The
Mission of Palm Harbor University High School is to create systems that encourage highest achievement and
life-long learning for students of all abilities.
Pinellas County's school system has more than 31,000
high school students (grades 9-12) ranking it as the 21st largest in the United States. Palm Harbor University High School,
built in 1996, was chosen to be the second IB school in the county. (The first was St. Petersburg High School.) All students
in our program must be full IB diploma candidates.
The PHUHS IB student: * Has an increased degree of self-confidence
derived from classroom experience with college-level material in all academic courses; * Shares intellectual experiences
with the best students in the school district; * Has received instruction in time management and stress control; *
Has experience with independent study including a 4,000-word extended essay research paper marked by IB examiners; * Has
a unique experience in learning about learning through a Theory of Knowledge course; and * Performs at least 225
hours of community service and related activity.
